The sixteenth annual
UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium, held on May 16, was an exciting
and enjoyable
showcase for undergraduate
achievement in all disciplines. The Symposiums theme, "Undergraduate
Research: Enhancing the Human Experience," recognized the
impact the research process has both on the participants and on all humanity.
More than 600 students presented their research
findings through oral and poster presentations to faculty, staff,
members of the UCI and general community, and
their families and friends. In addition to the presentations, participants
enjoyed live lunchtime dance performances by our undergraduates,
the
keynote address,
and the presentation of the Chancellors
Awards for Excellence in Undergraduate Research to faculty and student
recipients from each school. The day reflected UCIs commitment
to faculty-mentored undergraduate research and creative projects.
We invite you to join us at next year's Symposium,
which will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010.
