Dear Members of the UCI Community:

You are cordially invited to join us at the Tenth Annual UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium to be held on Saturday, May 10, 2003 in the UCI Student Center. This year's theme, "Research & Policy: Facts or Interpretation," reflects UC Irvine's commitment to promoting an interdisciplinary approach to research and analysis, both within and beyond the academy. We are honored to announce that this year's keynote speaker will be Dr. Elizabeth Loftus, Distinguished Professor of Social Ecology.

This stimulating day-long event promises to be exciting and educational, as research-related ideas are presented and discussed. The Symposium offers a variety of activities. Oral panel sessions and poster presentations will allow undergraduates from all disciplines to present their research, address questions, and engage in interactive discussions with other students, faculty, staff, and members of the community. At lunch, we will host a series of faculty-led roundtable discussions on a variety of contemporary issues. The day will culminate with the presentation of the Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Undergraduate Research to outstanding faculty and students.

Your participation is a significant element in the success of this Symposium. It will directly support a community committed to the discovery and communication of knowledge. We hope you will be able to join us for all or part of the day's schedule:
