2000 Symposium

The UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium, held on May 13th, was an exciting and enjoyable showcase for undergraduate achievement in all disciplines. The Symposium’s theme, "Portals of Discovery: Imagination and Dedication," reflects the essence of multidisciplinary and collaborative research that has come to epitomize the UCI community. Close to 300 students presented their research findings through oral and poster presentations to faculty, staff, members of the UCI and general community, and their families and friends. In addition to the presentations, participants enjoyed dance performances by our undergraduates, lunchtime faculty-led roundtable discussions, the keynote address by Dr. Frances Leslie, Professor of Pharmacology and Anatomy & Neurobiology, and the presentation of the Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Undergraduate Research to faculty and student recipients from each school and I&CS. The day reflected UCI’s commitment to faculty-mentored undergraduate research and creative projects.
